PATNA: The teachers and non-teaching staff of all schools and colleges in the state would be paid all arrears of their salaries within a fortnight, said education minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary.
“Arrangements have been made for expediting the release of funds for the payments. It is also being ensured that the teachers and employees of minority institutions and madrassas get their salaries before the forthcoming Eid festival,” Choudhary added.The minister told the newspaper here on Friday that the government is sensitive to the problems being faced by the teachers and other supporting staff of schools and colleges due to non-payment of their salaries for the last two to three months and, hence, necessary steps have of late been taken by the government to release necessary funds for the payment of salary arrears.
Choudhary admitted that the delay in payment of salaries was caused by the frequent closure of institutions followed by statewide lockdown. Moreover, a number of employees and officers of different departments of the state government have been infected with the Covid-19 affecting their normal functioning.
